Applications Open for Community Housing Growth Fund

Non-profit and Co-operative housing groups can now apply for funding assistance.

The 2.1 million Community Housing Growth Fund is offering financial support to assist housing providers in order to increase the supply of affordable houses in Nova Scotia.

“Growing the community housing sector is key to increasing the supply of affordable housing options in Nova Scotia,” says Municipal Affairs and Housing Minister John Lohr. The Community Housing Growth Fund will fuel innovation and help access tools and expertise to develop projects and manage ongoing operations effectively. The funding will also support the creation of a new provincial non-profit housing Assocation which will help lead the growth and long-term sustainability of the community housing sector.

The Community Housing Transformation Centre, a group the provides financial supports to Canadian housing organizations will administer the program and allocate funds to approved projects over the next two years. Grants are available to support capacity building, planning and pre-development, and research and innovation. The Centre’s executive director Stephen Corriveau says they are proud to be part of this important initiative.
