Arts Hub In Pictou Gets Funding From All Levels Of Government

A library and arts centre will become a cultural hub in downtown Pictou.

The deCoste Centre for Arts and Creativity, and the Pictou Library will grow, thanks to investments from all levels of government.

The province announced two-million in funding for the project yesterday, while the federal government will fund six-million, and local municipalities will contribute over one-million.

The plan is to expand the deCoste building by 2,100 square metres to host a new, modern public library, a fully renovated theatre, visual arts exhibition facilities and meeting spaces.

The province says it’s expected to draw up to 50 per cent more patrons, and have a multi-million dollar impact on downtown Pictou.
