Members of the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board have agreed to extend the permits to construct a proposed liquefied natural gas facility and pipeline in the Strait of Canso.
LNG Ltd. reps applied for the three-year extension for their Bear Head and Bear Paw projects in Point Tupper in October; at the time, they said it was just a normal extension process.
UARB members approved the application in a decision released Wednesday; the construction permits expire Dec. 31, 2022.
In an emailed statement in October, company reps told The Hawk they let their local, in-province consultants go because they have employees in their main Houston office capable of overseeing the project.
