Bluenose II announces 2024 sailing schedule

The Bluenose II has unveiled its 2024 sailing schedule, promising a summer filled with maritime adventures across Nova Scotia. The iconic schooner will be showcasing its majestic sails and maritime spirit, emphasizing local destinations and community engagement.

One of the notable highlights of the schedule is the visit to Halifax from May 30th to June 3rd for the Sail GP event in Canada. This event promises a spectacular display of sailing prowess and maritime festivities.

Throughout June and July, the Bluenose II will navigate the South Shore, making stops in historic ports such as Lunenburg, Yarmouth, and Pubnico. These picturesque locations will serve as the backdrop for a series of open decks, public harbour cruises, and unique experiences like ‘Deckhand for a Day.’

A major focus of the summer excursion will be the 6-day visit to Halifax from July 11th to the 17th, allowing residents and visitors alike to immerse themselves in the rich maritime culture.

Following the Halifax visit, the Bluenose II will return to the tranquil waters of the South Shore, with planned stops in St. Margarets Bay and Hubbards, providing local communities with an opportunity to witness the historic vessel in all its glory.

The detailed 2024 schedule includes various ports of call, each offering a unique experience for onlookers and sailing enthusiasts. From training sessions in Lunenburg to open decks and public harbour cruises, the itinerary promises a diverse range of activities that capture the essence of Nova Scotia’s maritime heritage.

As the Bluenose II sails through the summer, anchored in Indian Point and Western Shore, and transiting the seas, it aims to foster a connection with local communities. The mobility cup at Princes Inlet and the visit to Pictou showcase the vessel’s engagement in maritime events that go beyond its traditional sailing routine.

The schedule culminates in a series of open decks, public harbour cruises, and special experiences like ‘Deckhand for a Day’ in Lunenburg from September 27th to 30th, wrapping up the summer on a high note.
