Boil water advisory in place for Port Hastings residents

There’s a boil water order in place for residents on the Port Hastings water system.

It’s due to a major water main break in the area causing a massive loss in water from the storage tower.

Water conservation orders are also in place until further notice.

Officials suggest you bring your tap water to a rolling boil for up to two minutes.

Other tips:

• Cool water before using for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth and preparing beverages and food.

To conserve water:

• Do not take baths and take short showers;

• Do not wash vehicles;

• Use the dishwasher or clothes washer only with a full load.

Please share widely with neighbours, friends, visitors, and members of vulnerable populations such as seniors who may be living alone.
