Busy weekend at StFX with convocation, X-Ring

The campus of StFX was a busy spot this weekend.

Close to 900 students received their long-awaited X-Rings during a closed ceremony at the Keating Centre in Antigonish Sunday afternoon.

Robyn Tingley, a 1996 StFX grad, was the guest speaker for the event; she was recently named one of the country’s 100 most powerful women by officials with the Women’s Executive Network.

Roy Rasmussen, a human kinetics professor at the university, received an honorary X-Ring for his nearly 50-year career at StFX.

University officials presented more than 200 degrees in arts, business and science during Fall Convocation at the Keating Centre Saturday.

Ann Marie D. Smith, a Coady graduate from Jamaica, spoke on behalf of the members of her graduating class; Palagummi Sainath, a photojournalist from India, received the only honorary degree at the ceremony.
