Cape Breton arrest

Cape Breton Regional Police have arrested a 38-year-old man from Glace Bay. Justin Kristopher Tobin was arrested after police responded to complaints from a homeowner of an unknown male on his front step who appeared intoxicated and was banging on his door to be let in.

Officers were able to identify the suspect who they knew to also knew to not be self-isolating as required by the regulations of the Public Health Act.

Tobin was then taken to Cape Breton Regional Hospital after complaining of medical distress, officers received additional complaints from staff that Tobin was disruptive and caused damage while at the hospital the previous day, after police removed him from a Sydney business for public intoxication.

Through further investigation police learned the business was deemed inoperable and had to be shut down for cleaning. As a result, Tobin is facing 3 charges of mischief- for interfering with the lawful use, enjoyment, or operation of a property and 3 times for Causing a Disturbance.

He was also issued a Summary Offense Ticket under Section 71 of the Health Protection Act for failing to comply with the act and regulations, with a fine of $11,622.00 as a second offense

Tobin was remanded to the Cape Breton Correctional Centre pending his court appearance on January 17th.
