Cape Breton Drag Racing Association Upgrading Their Facilites

The Cape Breton Drag Racing Assocation will be getting financial assistance.

MP Mike Kelloway announced yesterday a non-repayable contribution of $65.975 through the Atlantic Canada Oppurtunites Agencies innovative communities fund that will help the organization make upgrades to their facilities. The announcement was made on behalf of the Honorable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Official Languages and Minister responsible for ACOA.

“Atlantic Canadian non-profit organizations, like the Cape Breton Drag Racing Assocation are part of the fabric of their community.” stated Petitpas Taylor. “By developing fresh approaches and innovative ways to grow their operations, they are creating new economic opportunities for the region and offering new and exciting tourism experiences.

The facility upgrades will include a full-time power supply, upgraded wiring and lighting, safety and security at the Dragway in Sydney, computer controlled digital score boards, and a fifth racing line. The upgrades are expected to be completed by the end of the year and this will allow the association to host larger events including national and international events in addition to regional Atlantic events.

The CBDRA is a non-profit recreational assocation that aims to promote the enjoyment of motorsports.
