Child Care Fees Reduced Tomorrow in Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia families won’t be paying as much for childcare starting tomorrow.

Fees for licensed, funded child care will go down by 25 per cent through the Nova Scotia Canada-wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement, parents will save anywhere between $3 and $10.50 per day, per child, based on the child’s age.

Child care centres who adopted the new Canada wide agreement will be provided with full funding to offset the fee reduction.

To date, 98 per cent of operators have signed the agreement, representing 99 per cent of child-care spaces in the province.

These reduced fees are retroactive to January 1st so parents will either get a cheque or credit from their centre.

The province says this is another step forward to achieving $10 a day child care.
