Driver charged in four-vehicle crash sentenced

A man from Antigonish Co. arrested in relation to a crash that left a woman with serious injuries has been sentenced to time behind bars.

RCMP say the four-vehicle crash happened on Hwy. 7 in Preston in November.

They say a car veered into oncoming traffic, struck another car, then hit two SUVs.

Police say a passenger in the first car, a 36-year-old woman from Truro, was taken to hospital with serious injuries; five others were checked at the scene and released.

Morris James Lanceleve, 36, entered guilty pleas to impaired driving causing bodily harm and four breaches during an election-and-plea hearing in Dartmouth Provincial Court in February.

A judge handed Lanceleve a 35-month prison term for those counts- and other previous charges- during a video/teleconference sentencing hearing Thursday; he also received a 99-year licence suspension, effective through April 2119.
