Fatal Kayaking Accident on Lochaber Lake

A drowning occurred on Lochaber Lake in Antigonish County on Monday afternoon.

It was reported that the 19-year-old male victim fell off a dock while trying to retrieve his kayak

A call was made by the victim’s friend and the local RCMP detachment received the report around 4 o clock and responded along with other emergency services.

The RCMP later called the underwater recovery team during the investigation and the victim’s body was located at around 11PM under the dock.

The death is not considered suspicious and the case has been turned over to the Nova Scotia Medical Examiners Office.
