Even more candidates come forward

Three more candidates have announced their intention to run in the upcoming municipal elections.

In Antigonish Co., District 8 incumbent Gary Mattie has thrown his hat back in the ring.

As well, District 9 Councillor Neil Corbett is reoffering, he got his seat in a special election in 2017.

In Richmond Co., Gerry Bourque, of Arichat, has announced he’ll run for District 2. He says he served as a councillor from 1985 to 2004 in the pre-amalgamation District 4.

The District 2 seat is currently held by Deputy Warden Alvin Martell, who says he won’t be reoffering.

People across the province go to the polls on Oct. 17.
