On Saturday, May 16, from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Strait Area Ground Search and Rescue (SAGSAR) and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police will be conducting a search and rescue exercise in the area around Green Barren Lake and Loon Lake in the Municipality of the District of Guysborough. As part of the exercise, you may see search and rescue vehicles, responders, and drones operating in the area.
Strait Area Ground Search and Rescue is a volunteer organization on call 24/7, year-round to assist with searches, rescues, and other emergency responses. The team serves the largest operating area in Nova Scotia, covering Antigonish County, Richmond County, and parts of Guysborough, Inverness, and Victoria Counties. The team appreciates your understanding and support as they undertake this essential training.
