Funding for Eastern Counties Regional Library

Eastern Counties Regional Library (ECRL) is receiving $46,200 of additional provincial funding for their 2025 to 2026 budget.

This funding comes from an additional $800,000 the province is giving Public Library Regions across Nova Scotia.

That amount is half of the $1.6 million that was originally requested earlier this year.

Clair Rankin, Chair of the ECRL says, “This infusion of revenue can be attributed to the support regional libraries received from local municipalities who recognize the value of having a public space in our communities.”

An additional $10,300 is being provided to the ECRL and other Public Library Regions from the dissolution of the Library Boards Association of Nova Scotia (LBANS).

Some financial pressures will be alleviated by these funds, including possibly giving staff a cost-of-living boost.
