Ground-breaking ceremony for new Antigonish long-term care home

A significant milestone for the Town of Antigonish with a ground-breaking ceremony Tuesday, for a new long-term care home.

The RK McDonald nursing home will be state-of-the-art, according to the nursing home association.

It is on a 13-acre lot on Church Street Extension, next to the West River with ample parking and lots of green space.

There will 144 resident rooms, each with a private bathroom.

The nursing home corporation says the space will be easy to navigate with views of nature, as well as an “inviting space” for families, volunteers and community members.

The current RK McDonald nursing home has been a part of the community since 1958.
