Guysborough Co. business gets federal funding

Officials with the federal government have announced funding to help a business in Guysborough Co. expand.

Mike Kelloway, the MP for Cape Breton-Canso, has announced a repayable contribution of $550,000 to help the owners of Tor Bay Fisheries Ltd. build a live lobster holding facility.

Federal officials say company reps currently hold live lobster in an open water facility, which warms up during the summer; the new tanks will be temperature-controlled and energy efficient, with advanced water filtration systems.

They say that will allow them to extend their season, hire more people, explore export opportunities and sell more lobster.
