Guysborough County Approves Current Council Size and Changes to Polling District Boundaries

Residents have spoken and the community has listened.

The Municipality of the County of Guysborough declared that the number of councilors will remain at eight and changes to the polling district boundaries have been approved. With the help of the company Santec, consultations, public hearings, and surveys were done with the public about the size of the municipal government as well as the boundaries of the polling districts.

Most community members supported the current council size, and they supported changing the polling district boundaries. Santec recommended to residents that the council size should be set at eight and the polling district boundary adjustments are necessary for voter equality.

According to the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board, these measures were done as part of a requirement of the Municipal Government Act.
