Case of teen charged in Sherbrooke knife incident opens in court

A teen from Guysborough Co. arrested after Sherbrooke RCMP responded to a knife threat on a school bus has had his case adjourned.

Police say they were called when four students were threatened with a knife on a bus to St. Mary’s Education Centre/Academy in October.

They say no one was hurt; the knife in question was a folding utility knife.

A boy, 16, who can’t be identified because of his age, has been charged with assault with a weapon.

He had an arraignment hearing in youth court in Antigonish Wednesday; he’s scheduled to return to court for an election-and-plea hearing Feb. 7.
