HMCS Halifax crew runs through Port Hawkesbury for Children’s Wish

Runners headed from Sydney to Yarmouth passed through Port Hawkesbury Wednesday morning.

This is the 16th year they’re raising money for the Children’s Wish Foundation.

LT(N) Stephanie Bengle tells The Hawk Morning Show they’re raising money for Children’s Wish, and one kid in particular.

“We have a sponsor child named Cailum, and we’re raising money to grant his wish, and, hopefully, enough money to grant some other children’s wishes, as well. His wish is to go to Disneyland, so we’re hoping to raise enough to be able to send him there.”

Bengle says the 8 runners from HMCS Halifax are running 10 10km runs in towns across Nova Scotia, and collecting donations for Children’s Wish along the way.

She says they finished a run in Sydney Tuesday, and they ran through Port Hawkesbury Wednesday morning.

The team is less than $500 from their $10,000 goal.
