Halifax firefighters battle blaze in Bayers Lake

An early morning fire at a business in Bayers Lake.

Halifax firefighters were called to a building supply store on Chain Lake Drive before 6 a.m. Sunday.

They say over 20 foot flames and heavy black smoke was visible, as a trash compactor behind the building was on fire.

The firefighters say they established water supply, knocked down the main fire and an extension to the main building.

Halifax Professional Firefighters say it was a busy day Saturday with multiple fires and medical emergencies through the city.
