Healthcare issue of the election – Antigonish Tory

The PC candidate for Antigonish said healthcare is the issue of the election.

Michelle Thompson was chosen by the riding’s Tory members in June.

Thompson tells the Hawk people are looking for a change in how healthcare is done in our province.

“Healthcare is predominately what I’m hearing on the doorstep,” she said. “Sometimes I hear a bit about long-term care, sometimes I hear about primary care access, and I have a lot of people that are interested in the universal mental healthcare plan.”

She said people are ready for that change.

Thompson said people have been great on the doorstep.

“They’re very engaged, very interested in the topics. I hear a lot about the different platforms and people are really paying attention, and there are things on their mind,” she said. “Wanting something different, looking for improvements.”

Thompson said, other than that, she’s also talked about the state of rural roads and heard concerns about housing.
