Healthcare Issues in Guysborough

Like much of Nova Scotia, the Municipality of the District of Guysborough has been dealing with healthcare issues and staffing shortages of healthcare workers.

The Guysborough Memorial hospital has had to close on numerous occasions something Warden Vernon Pitts says is unacceptable. Whenever the hospital closed, patients were sent to other hospitals for treatment in some cases as far away as Canso.

Nova Scotia Health announced that the hospital’s emergency department will remain closed until 8AM tomorrow.

The Municipality will continue their efforts to recruit more healthcare workers and they are also calling on the provincial government to fix the healthcare issues.
