I’m on day #2 of working from home. I’m broadcasting from our office/craft or whatever this room is in the basement, we’ve never really defined it but it has a desk and shelves and a door so this is where me and my husband have set up – it works.

I am obviously not a photographer
I’ve seen some articles online about tips on working from home and didn’t really pay much attention to them to be honest. How hard can it be, I thought.
Well, it’s not really hard, exactly but I’ve discovered after only one day, it can be……a lot.
There are just so many more distractions. The washer dinged, I should put that in the dryer…..the kitchen is a mess, I should clean that up…..my son needs lunch, I should feed him (ok, that one is mandatory)
So, as I sit here in my office/craft room thingie, I brain dumped the following tips that I have gathered from my very limited experience (I’m on day 2, an expert I am not) and from some of those articles.
Working from home tips:
- Set up a dedicated work space. If that is your dining room table or another common area, make an effort to clear it away at the end of the day.
- Try to keep routine – don’t forget to eat! (Seriously – I had a 2pm meeting yesterday and they were all like, use your camera if you can and I couldn’t b/c I was jamming my face with lunch that I had forgotten about)
- Cut your self some slack – this is going to take some time to adjust
- Try to “clock out” at your regular time. When the lines between work and home blur, it can feel overwhelming.
I don’t want to end this without acknowledging that I am fortunate to be able to do my job from home, I know there are so many that cannot and people who have lost their jobs.
