I wonder what my kid left at school? (and how to get it back)

This post has been updated since the original publish date, scroll down.

At this point, the kids haven’t been in school since…….last month? Nope. The month before! March. Which seems like it was 56 years ago.

(Remember when we thought they might be going back this school year? Ahh, good times)

So, what did they leave there on that last day? Who knows! (they sure don’t) Now too small shoes? (definitely) Half eaten lunch? (possibly)

Yesterday, the An update on how to get your kids belongings from Strait Regional Centre for Education sent out a message regarding their schools.

It reads in part:

Beginning the week of May 25, 2020, your principal will be reaching out to give specific appointment times to come to the school. Access will start the week of June 8

Update May 28:

I just received my appointment date and time from my son’s principle.

In addition to the appointment time, (only 1 family member can go) they also say:

Public Health Protocols
•A physical distance of two (2) metres/six (6) feet must be maintained at all times.
•No one can come to the school if they are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms. You may designate someone to drop off and pick up your items. Please advise us as to whom you have designated and ensure, they too have not been experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms.
•Follow proper handwashing procedures before, during and after your visit to the school.

Additional Information
•The Administration, Building Operator and necessary custodial staff will also be onsite during this process to conduct ongoing wiping of high touch surfaces and regular cleaning of areas accessed throughout the day including entrance and exit areas.
•As long as schools maintain physical distance (two metres or approximately six feet both inside and outside of the building, and no large groups)
•Families must follow the specific instructions and show up only at the appointment time, following all instructions to limit time in the school.

By working together, strictly respecting this plan and all of the public health protocols, we will ensure a safe and healthy approach is followed during this process.

This is specific to my son’s school but I would guess that other schools will send out a similar notice.
