Inverness gets funding for new trails, sidewalks

More trails for the Municipality of the County of Inverness.

All three levels of government are combining $14 million for nearly 3 kilometres of new trails and almost 4 kilometres of reconstructed sidewalks.

The sidewalks will be built along Central Avenue and Veteran’s Memorial Court.

MP Mike Kelloway says this will reduce the reliance on vehicles and lower their carbon footprint.

Warden Bonny MacIsaac says this investment is a gateway to social mobility for residents and visitors.

MLA Allan MacMaster says Inverness is a community with a lot to offer, and this will change the area forever.

The federal government is giving $5.6 million, the province $4.6 million and the municipality will fund $3.7 million.
