Local sports preview (Friday)

We have action on our local sports schedule for the first time in more than a month.

It’s in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

The Cape Breton Eagles host River Denys’ Colten Ellis, Antigonish’s Sean Stewart and the Charlottetown Islanders.

The Eagles (7-8-0) are tied with Saint John for fourth in the six-team Maritimes Division with 14 points, a point behind Halifax for third, and two points ahead of last-place Moncton; the Islanders (12-2-0) are in top spot with 24 points.

Charlottetown has won three of the first four games in the season series between the teams.

Puck drop at Centre 200 in Sydney is 7 p.m.

Cape Breton plays at home for the second time in as many days when they host Halifax in the latest edition of the Battle of Nova Scotia Saturday afternoon.
