The Strait Pirates meet the Miners in Membertou in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League.
The Pirates (17-8-3), who snapped a three-game losing streak with Thursday night’s home win against Pictou Co., are third in the six-team Sid Rowe Division with 37 points, 18 points ahead of fourth-place Pictou Co.
It’s the fourth and final regular season game between the teams; the Miners have won two of the first three.
Game time is 7:30 p.m.
It’s the first of back-to-back games for the Pirates, who return home to host Eskasoni Sunday night.
The Cape Breton West Islanders return home to host the Cole Harbour Wolfpack in game three of their Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League playoff series.
The teams split the first two games in the best-of-seven, first-round series in Cole Harbour- the Wolfpack won the first game 5-4 Feb. 8, with the Islanders evening the series with a 1-0 win the next day.
Puck drop at the Al MacInnis Sports Centre in Port Hood is 6 p.m.
The series remains in Port Hood for game four Sunday afternoon.
The Panthers play the Penguins in the Nova Scotia Female Midget AAA Hockey League.
The Panthers (5-11-5), winless in eight straight and 10 of the last 11, are fifth in the seven-team league with 15 points, a point behind EDZA West for fourth, and four points ahead of the sixth-place Penguins (4-15-3).
The Penguins lead the four-game season series between the teams after a win and a tie in the first two games in Membertou in September.
Game time is 4 p.m.
The teams square off again in Bedford Sunday afternoon.
The Cabot Highlanders have back-to-back games against the same team in the Nova Scotia Minor Midget AAA Hockey League.
They host the Kings.
The Highlanders (11-11-4), who have lost two of the last three, are sixth in the eight-team league with 26 points, two points behind the Admirals for fifth, and 12 points ahead of seventh-place Fundy; they’ve won two of the first three games in the five-game season series between the teams.
Puck drop at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre is 6 p.m.
The teams play again in Port Hawkesbury Sunday afternoon.
The Novas play the first of three games in as many days in the Nova Scotia Major Bantam Hockey League.
They visit Halifax.
The Novas (22-7-0), winners of three straight and seven of the last eight, are tied with Bedford for top spot in the 12-team league with 44 points, a point up on the third-place Gulls; Halifax (14-13-4) is tied with the Rangers for seventh with 32 points.
It’s the third and final regular season game between the teams, who split the first two; both were one-goal games.
Game time is 5 p.m.
The Novas visit Cole Harbour Sunday morning, then return home to host the Rangers in Antigonish Monday afternoon.
There are a pair of playoff games in the Antigonish Rural League.
The Pleasantdale Panthers play the Heatherton Warriors at 7 p.m.; the County Outlaws square off the with St. Croix Angels at 8:30 p.m.
Both games are at the Antigonish Arena.
The Cape Breton Eagles wrap their six-game road trip when they visit the Gatineau Olympiques in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
The Eagles (34-16-3), who had their three-game winning streak snapped with Thursday night’s loss in Rouyn-Noranda, are fourth in the 10-team Eastern Conference with 71 points; the Olympiques are last in the eight-team Western Conference.
Game time is 8 p.m.
The StFX basketball teams are in Halifax to meet Saint Mary’s in AUS action.
The X-Men (10-8), with losses in two of their last three, are second in the eight-team conference with 32 points, 14 points behind Dalhousie for top spot, and two points ahead of third-place UNB; the Huskies (10-8) are fourth with 28 points.
The X-Women (3-15), losers of eight of their last nine and already eliminated from playoff contention, are seventh in their eight-team conference with six points, 16 points behind the Huskies (9-9) for sixth, and two points up on last-place Dalhousie.
Saint Mary’s has won the first three games in the four-game season series between both the men’s and women’s teams, who finish off their home-and-home series after they played in Antigonish Wednesday night.
The women get underway at 6 p.m.; the men tip off at 8 p.m.
