Local sports preview (Wednesday)

There are a pair of games on the local sports schedule.

The Antigonish Bulldogs meet the Miners in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League playoffs.

The best-of-seven, Sid Rowe Division final is tied 2-2 after the Bulldogs won game four 4-1 in Membertou.

Puck drop at the Antigonish Arena is 7:30 p.m.

The winner of Wednesday’s game five will have a chance to close out the series when it returns to Membertou for game six Saturday.

 

Antigonish’s Dylan Chisholm and the Halifax Mooseheads visit River Denys’ Colten Ellis, Antigonish’s Sean Stewart and the Charlottetown Islanders in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

The Mooseheads (14-16-9), who have lost three of their last four, are fourth in the six-team Maritimes Division in terms of points percentage, behind Saint John for third, and ahead of fifth-place Moncton; the Islanders (30-4-0) are in top spot in the division, and the entire league.

Charlottetown leads the season series 13-2.

Game time is 7 p.m.

The teams meet again in Halifax Friday night.
