A coach from the Quad Counties has a new job with an NHL club.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have hired Paul MacLean as an assistant coach.
MacLean, an Antigonish native, was part of the Columbus Blue Jackets team when they defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs in the play-in round of the 2020 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs.
MacLean has also spent over 20 years in the NHL as a coach with three-plus seasons as Ottawa’s head coach, including the 2012-13 season when he won the Jack Adams Award as the NHL’s coach of the year.
He previously served as an assistant coach in Phoenix, Anaheim, and Detroit.
