Man charged following trio of drug busts expected for sentencing

A man from Inverness Co. arrested in relation to a trio of drug busts is expected for sentencing Wednesday.

Police charged Kenneth John Googoo, 52, with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and a breach after officers searched a We’koqma’q home and seized marijuana products, pills and cash in February.

Googoo also faced three charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking after Inverness and Victoria RCMP and members of the Street Crime Enforcement Unit searched a We’koqma’q home in Dec., 2016.

RCMP say they found marijuana, oxycodone and brass knuckles; he had weapons charges withdrawn during a June court appearance.

The We’koqma’q man, who was also charged with possession in relation to an Oct. 2016 bust, was expected for an election-and-plea hearing on a total of six drug charges and a breach in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court in October; instead, he pleaded guilty to a single count of possession for the purpose of trafficking and two counts of possession.

His remaining charges are expected to be withdrawn during his sentencing hearing Wednesday.

Googoo was acquitted of a pair of 2014 trafficking counts Oct. 10.
