The Province of Nova Scotia is supporting two groups working to bring healthcare professionals to the Cape Breton Regional Municipality and keep the professionals they already have.
The Cape Breton Health Navigation Society and the Breton Ability Centre Society will receive funding that will allow them to host career fairs and develop marketing campaigns. This will create community connections with healthcare workers living in their communities.
Minister Brain Comer says attracting and keeping healthcare professionals works best when communities are involved.
The funding is from the provinces new “Office of Healthcare Professionals Recruitment Community Fund.” The $2 Million investment is part of the recruitment and retention initiatives outlined in “Action for Health”, the provinces strategic plan to improve healthcare.
“We are very appreciative of the confidence that has been placed in our group via this funding.” says Bryan Pratt from the Cape Breton Health Navigation Society. “We very much look forward to getting started.”
Breton Ability Society CEO Harman Singh says they support more than 100 people with varying abilities and their team consists of more than 300 healthcare workers. This grant will help them put more resources towards the recruitment and the caring of their dedicated employees.
The Cape Breton Health and Navigation Society will get $82,500 and the Breton Ability Centre Society will receive $3,000.
A total of 28 groups across the province applied for this assistance and more successful applicants will be notified in the coming weeks.
