MP Mike Kelloway Issues a Statement on Tickle Wharf Wreck

Cape Breton-Canso MP Mike Kelloway stated the Canadian Coast Guard has been actively involved in making plans for the removal of the sunken vessel near Tickle Wharf, and they are aware of the urgency of the situation.

The Government is working on a bid solicitation for the removal of the wreck and once that is completed the removal can go ahead.

Following an examination of the wrecked boat it does not present an environmental risk.

The Municipality of the District of Guysborough agreed to submit a letter to the Coast Guard and MP Kelloway. The purpose of the letter was to urge them to deal with the vessel as the wreck is located in waters outside the municipality’s jurisdiction.

The cause of the boats sinking is not known and the owner of the boat is not known either.
