New Funding for Port Hawkesbury Waterfront Project

The Government of Canada is continuing to invest in the Quad Counties.

Last week, MP Mike Kelloway announced a contribution of $189.909 for the water front revitalization project for Port Hawkesbury.

Kelloway says this is an exciting opportunity for business ventures and will play a role in showcasing the towns reputation as a must see destination.

The project would allow for the creation of new businesses and provide an accessible place for visitors and residents to explore.

The first phase of the plan is to build a waterfront park, retail and rental kiosks for businesses, and a public art installation.

Mayor Brenda Chisholm Beaton stated that the development of the waterfront and port is a top priority for the Town of Port Hawkesbury and the funding will provide them with the opportunity needed to advance their vision for the waterfront renewal.

The long term goal is to boost the local economy with this project and to provide the town with an inviting place to work.

The funding comes from the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency’s Innovative Communities Fund.
