New Round of Micro-Loan Program Now Open for Cape Breton Female Entrepreneurs

The Cape Breton Partnership, Sydney Credit Union, and Cape Breton Regional Chamber of Commerce are inviting female entrepreneurs on Cape Breton Island to apply for their micro loan program.

“Having seen the enthusiasm of many past participants in the micro loan program, we are very excited to be partnering with Sydney Credit Union again to help offer this significant opportunity for Cape Breton-Unama’ki local female entrepreneurs” says Lan Zheng the CBRM Economic Development Officer Employed by the Cape Breton Partnership.” We recognize that access to financing has traditionally been a barrier keeping many capable female entrepreneur’s from pursuing their business plans, and this program is a great step to reducing the issue.”

The Chambers Chief Executive Officer Jenna Lahey says they are excited to work on this important initiative and believes that helping to remove barriers that woman face when starting a business is key to ensuring that more small businesses open.

Eligible applicants have an opportunity to win a $10,000 loan for their business and a one-year membership with the Cape Breton Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Carol Ripley the CEO of Sydney Credit Union looks forward to receiving new applications.

The program will be available until March 31st of this year and applications can be made on the Cape Breton Partnerships website: Micro-Loan Program
