Non-traditional ways to celebrate Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is generally a fairly traditional holiday when it comes to the meal – turkey is usually on the menu. However, if you are looking for ways to switch it up, I have gathered some fun ideas from listeners today.

Starting with food, what about a “no turkey” Thanksgiving? Maybe switch it up and serve tacos, lasagna, sushi or breakfast for dinner.

This next one could be a potential disaster so keep that in mind! It’s a potluck but everyone brings a dish they’ve never made before. A traditional potluck with people making familiar dishes would be safer!

For activities, I don’t think this one is super non-traditional since there is a name for it but it might be new to you, you could do a Turkey Trot. That’s when you go on a walk or fun run with family/friends before the big meal. Or how about an outdoor Thanksgiving with a bonfire or at the beach? (sunny with a high near 13 on Thanksgiving Monday for the Quad Counties this year!)

However you celebrate, Happy Thanksgiving!
