Nova Scotia Man Hoping to Have Electric Trains in The Province

A Nova Scotia man is hoping to bring electric trains to our province.

Gary Fisher is the Administrator of the Facebook Group “Bring Electric Trains to Nova Scotia” and believes having electric trains is better than investing in electric vehicles to help solve the carbon problem.

“I think we need more public transportation, and I think electric trains would be one way to go.” says Fisher. “We have a lot of older railbeds, perhaps some of those railbeds could be reclaimed and we could have an electric train route around the province.”

Fisher added that with the population getting bigger people are going to be looking for different modes of transportation for both tourists and to pull freight.

Trains are considered to be a reliable form of transportation that’s often not affected by weather.

Fisher started the Facebook group with a goal of generating discussions about the technology and hopes to grab the attention of elected officials and railway companies as well.

He hopes if there is enough of a demand action could be taken to construct carbon friendly railways.
