Antigonish town councillors pass new budget

Antigonish Town Council passed their 2019-2020 budget this week, allocating over $10 Million in funds.

The tax rate remains unchanged from the last budget.

For residential properties the tax rate stayed at $1.09/$100 of assessment, and the commercial the rate remained at $2.61/$100 of assessment.

The budget sets out funding for sidewalk improvements, street paving, and flood mitigation efforts.

Antigonish residents’ water bill will be going up, the sewer rate is increasing from .509% to .609%, putting an estimated additional cost of $8.14 on each water bill.
