Pair charged in Inverness Co. drug bust expected in court

Two men arrested for drug offences following a traffic stop in Inverness Co. are scheduled to return to court Tuesday.

Police say members of the Inverness District RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit stopped a vehicle on Rte. 19 in Port Hastings in May.

They say officers seized more than 400 grams of cocaine, along with marijuana and cash.

Driver Brennan Watts, 29, and passenger Neil MacDonald, 24, each face three charges of possession of marijuana and cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and trafficking marijuana.

The Port Hood men, who made their first court appearances in the case the day after their arrests, had election-and-plea hearings in August; their preliminary inquiries, which determine if there is enough evidence to send a case to trial, got underway in September.

They’re expected to resume in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court.
