Pirates go for series lead against Blazers

The Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League Final between the Strait Pirates and Sackville Blazers returns to Port Hawkesbury for game three.

The Blazers won the opening game of the best-of-seven, league final 3-1 in Port Hawkesbury April 5; the Pirates shutout Sackville 3-0 on the road to even the series at one April 8.

Taylor Lambke, the head coach of the Pirates, tells The Hawk the key for them between the two games was eliminating mistakes.

“In game one, we felt we played a pretty good hockey game overall, but we made a few breakdowns, some turnovers and some bad reads,” he says. “I thought (in game two) we played well, we played smart, we played our game- I think we’re just going to have to be good defensively and hungry to score, and we should be good.”

Puck drop at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre is 7:30 p.m.

The series shifts back to Sackville for game four Monday night.

The Pirates host game five Tuesday night.
