Police investigating suspicious death in Cape Breton

An investigation is underway into a suspicious death in Cape Breton.

Officers were called to Beech Street in Sydney Mines at around 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Cape Breton Regional Police say a man was found lying on the road with serious injuries and they believe he was the victim of an assault.

He was rushed to Cape Breton Regional Hospital where he passed away.

Police have one man in custody, who they arrested near Cambridge Street and Clyde Avenue, with the help of witnesses.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of death and confirm the victim’s identity.
