Port Hawkesbury explores hiring partnership with Richmond Co.

Port Hawkesbury is looking at hiring a new officer with one of their Cape Breton Regional Enterprise Network partners.

At Monday’s monthly council meeting, council voted to send a letter to their counterparts in Richmond Co. proposing the joint hiring of an Economic Development Officer.

After, Mayor Brenda Chisholm-Beaton said she thinks it would be good for both municipalities.

“We share a lot of synergies with Richmond Co., so it seemed natural fit,” she said. “We’ve identified the interest here tonight, that we are interested in a shared Economic Development Officer, so then the ball essential will be in the court of Richmond County.”

Richmond Co. has given notice to leave the CBREN, and they would need to stay if this partnership was accepted.
