School/bus cancellations for some Cape Breton students Wednesday

High winds and power outages have disrupted the school day for some students in Cape Breton.

The Strait Regional Centre for Education says some school buses are cancelled due to windy conditions.

As well, the SRCE says there will be an early dismissal at St. Mary’s Education Centre/Academy due to a power outage. Students will begin dismissing at 9:45 a.m.

CSAP-operated Beau-Port School is closed Wednesday due to a power outage affecting the area.

Meanwhile, at NDA School, morning bus transportation has been cancelled because of high winds. The school is still open, but those who take the bus will either have to take the day off or find alternative transportation.

School management at NDA says they will update families later in the day to confirm whether afternoon transportation will go ahead.

NSCC Strait Area Campus has also called off classes due to a power outage overnight that has an estimated time of restoration of 2:00 p.m.

The Wagmatcook Learning Centre will remain open.
