The minimum wage is going up.
The province will increase it from $12.95 to $13.35 an hour on April 1.
That comes from a recommendation from the Nova Scotia Minimum Wage Review Committee.
The committee is also suggesting additional increases to $13.60 on October 1 and a path to $15 by 2024.
Premier Tim Houston says the government has a role in setting a fair minimum wage, and business owners have the option to pay competitive rates to attract workers.
“I want to talk with the members of the committee and hear more from employees and businesses before taking action.”
The government is withholding a decision on the additional minimum wage recommendations until after they’ve gotten more input.
