Province unveils details on tax break for skilled trades workers

The provincial government has announced more details about a tax break aiming to help young people working in the skilled trades.

The More Opportunity for Skilled Trades program was initially announced in the 2022-23 budget.

The province says for eligible tradespeople under 30, they’ll return the provincial income tax paid on the first $50,000 they make.

That works out to be a refund of around $2,700 on average.

The province estimates that 7,500 people will benefit.

Seventy-three trades are eligible across the construction, industrial/manufacturing, motive power, and service sectors.
