Nearly 120 people were charged with impaired driving in our province last month.
According to Nova Scotia RCMP, 58 were charged due to alcohol and five because of drugs, and 48 were issued driving suspensions.
Corporal Chris Marshall says it’s consistent with August’s numbers.
“Getting impaired drivers off the roads is a focus for us and our officers. We’re going to continue to do that, in the hopes that people will make better decisions before getting behind the wheel if they’ve consumed too much alcohol or drugs,” says Cpl. Marshall.
Cpl. Marshall says eight drivers refused a demand made by an officer.
Failure to comply with a demand for sobriety testing can result in criminal charges similar to impaired driving.
He asks the public to report suspected impaired drivers to police.
