Residents of Inverness and Victoria Counties are being asked to avoid travel due to road conditions and washouts.
The Emergency Management Office issued an emergency alert on Tuesday at 11:00 p.m.

Various roads throughout the Quad Counties are impassable due to flooding, including many areas in Antigonish.
A State of Emergency is in effect in Victoria County and residents are required to stay home until further notice.
The order was issued on Tuesday night as officials with the Department of Public Works started assessing roads and bridges for safety.
The Strait Regional Centre for Education has cancelled all classes for the day on Wednesday.
