A man has been charged with animal cruelty.
Last Thursday, a report of a social media post about a dog being tide up in the woods was received by the Richmond County District RCMP.
The dog was tide up in the Louisdale area and was later rescued by a third party.
A 29-year-old Port Hawkesbury man contacted the RCMP the day after and advised that he wanted to turn himself in for the incident.
The suspect has since been released on conditions including that he does not possess any animals.
He will appear in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court on April 24th.
Richmond County District RCMP is working with Nova Scotia SPCA and a local rescue organization as part of the investigation.
