The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles have hired a new head coach.
Jake Grimes officially joins the team at the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League draft in Quebec Saturday.
Grimes, a native of Dartmouth, spent the past 15 seasons in the Ontario Hockey League, most recently as an associate coach with the Guelph Storm; the team won the 2018-19 OHL title, and earned a berth at the Memorial Cup in Halifax.
His playing career included three seasons with the Ottawa Senators’ organization.
Grimes replaces Marc-André Dumont, who was fired four days after the Screaming Eagles’ second-round loss to Rimouski in the QMJHL playoffs in April.
