Sexual assault suspect pleads guilty to two counts

A 19-year-old arrested in relation to an Inverness Co. sexual assault investigation has entered a pair of guilty pleas.

Hunter James Smith of Sugar Camp originally faced 15 counts- three charges each of sexual assault, sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching, and two charges each of luring a child, indecent acts/exposure and obtaining sexual service for consideration from a person under 18 years of age.

RCMP say they identified two victims in the case.

Smith, who was released on conditions in October, entered not guilty pleas to all 15 of his charge in November.

Two days were set aside for his trial, which was scheduled to get underway in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court Monday; instead, Smith pleaded guilty to the two counts of obtaining sexual service for consideration from a person under 18 years of age.

He’s expected back in court for sentencing Aug. 10.
