Snow squalls across western Cape Breton on Monday

Environment Canada has issued a weather alert for snow squalls across western Cape Breton on Monday morning and afternoon.

Snowfall rates could reach up to 3 cm per hour during the heaviest bands.

Travel may be hazardous as visibility could be suddenly reduced to close to zero at times.

Roads and walkways may also be difficult to navigate during the accumulating snow.

Continue to monitor alerts and forecasts for updates issued by Environment Canada.
